Little Explorers Join us each month for an enchanting outdoor adventure with your preschooler, where new themes and endless discoveries abound. Experience nature together, from the delicate flutter of butterflies to the gentle rustling of leaves underfoot. No matter the weather, there are thrilling experiences both indoors and outdoors. Spend quality time with your child, creating cherished memories while nurturing their appreciation for the natural world. Younger siblings are also invited to join in the fun. Halloween House Decorating Contest Whether you like tricks or treats, we want to see your best Halloween House Decorating this fall. Register by 10/20 for your house to be included in the contest. Oswegoland Park District staff will visit each home between 6-9pm on 10/22 to evaluate. Decorators will need to send pictures of the decor that will be posted on Facebook. The two Hallo-winners will be the Most Spooktacular (as evaluated by staff) and the People’s Choice (voted for via Facebook until noon on 10/27). Winners will be announced on 10/27 and will receive a yard sign and gift card. Maps to all participating homes will be provided online for families to take a drive to see them in person. Oswego Holiday Express Join us for a beloved holiday tradition! Dress in your coziest pajamas and warmest clothes, and embark on a magical journey to the top of the world. Mrs. Claus will welcome you, you’ll savor hot cocoa from the Vil lage Grind, and you’ll have the chance to meet Santa! Registration is required for all participants, from Grandma to the baby. Kids Triathlon Kids are filled with the energy to swim, bike, and run to the finish line. Coordinated in partnership with the School District’s Physical Education teachers, 3rd through 8th graders compete in this non-continuously timed event consisting of a 100m swim, a 3 mile bike ride, and a ½ mile run (7/8 graders will run 1 mile). While awards are given to the fastest in each division, the real winners are all the spirited students who bolt from the start and head towards every finish. Everyone receives a t-shirt and finisher medal. Park District athletic events are non-refundable. Registration deadline is September 16. Saw Wee Kee Fall Showdown Test your skills on the park you know best. Bikers will compete to see who can have the fastest course times. This event is for experienced riders. Bikers will choose a wave time between 9:00am-1:00pm. During their one hour slot, bikers will compete once in two different courses. Medals will be awarded to the top finishers on each course and by overall time. Race entry includes a t-shirt and a bib-timed entry. Spots are limited. All participants registered by September 2nd are guaran teed a shirt. This natural course winds through soft paths with plenty of twists, turns, and elevation changes, making for a thrilling run whether you’re navigating muddy conditions or dashing through fields of wildflowers. Runners are timed using bibs and start at staggered intervals. Each race in the series offers a unique course, seasonal swag, and a different piece of a col lectible medal. Santa on the Line Christmas is just around the corner, and Santa has set aside some special time to talk with the children of the Oswegoland area! He wants to hear how your child’s year has been, all of their Christmas wishes, and, most of all, to spread Christmas cheer. If your child would like to hear from Santa, all you have to do is fill out the quick survey that will be emailed to you after registering for this special event. Santa will give you a ring between 6:00-8:00pm on Tuesday, December 16. Registration for this event closes on December 11. Confirmation emails with the survey will be emailed out on December 12. Surveys must be completed no later than December 14, or you will not receive your call. Each child who is going to be speaking with Santa needs to be registered. Boulder Hill: Highlights of the First 36 Years, 1955-1991 As soon as Ruth and Bev Skaggs bought their home in Don L. Dise’s brand new Boulder Hill subdivision in 1956, Bev, a skilled amateur photographer, and his wife began chronicling the development’s progress in both words and pictures. Eventually, Ruth began giv ing slide lectures on Boulder Hill’s history and growth to area school and civic organizations. After the couple retired and moved to Batavia in 1992, she donated her slide collection to Oswego’s Little White School Mu seum. In this presentation, Museum Director Roger Matile will present Mrs. Skaggs’ program on Boulder Hill’s history, which has been unseen for the past 33 years. A question and discussion session will follow the program. Proceeds will benefit the museum’s mis sion to protect and preserve Oswego area history. They are often social gathering places for communities - sporting events, arts and cultural events, parent/teacher meet ings, and so many other examples. We will explore the “in town” schools in Oswego’s history and help us tell their stories. Wear good walking shoes and be prepared to be part of the conversation.
