Pre-Season Soccer Camp This pre-season camp will give park district players the opportunity to be coached by professional coaches, teaching from the basic skills to more advanced in preparation for the fall park district league. At the same time, volunteer coaches can watch the sessions, take notes, and prepare for the fall park district season in a coach clinic setting. All sessions will be conducted by licensed coaches through Chicago Rush Soccer Club. Canlan Sports Hockey Academy: Learn to Play Hockey This is the introductory program for the Canlan Play Forward Pathway. Participation in this level lays the foundation for the love of the game and growth in more dynamic skill development. With our friendly instructors, players focus on staying in motion and on developing a love for the game, through interac tive games and free play. Our primary goal is for participants to build trust with our coaches and to feel comfortable with the trial and error that comes with learning a new sport! At the Learn to Play - Level 1, players’ skill focus includes learning their hockey stance glide, forward stride basics, and inside edges. Skaters should be able to skate confidently forward and backwards and able to stop or have passed level Basic I. (PT-C) Age: 6 - 14 ● Canlan Ice Sports Flag Rugby Try on Rugby! Rugby is a growing sports for boys and girls and made a comeback as an Olympic sport in Rio in 2016. This non-contact flag program is designed to introduce non-rugby athletes to the skills, training, philosophy and strategy necessary to participate in this sport. Canlan Sports Skating Academy: Basic I - Skating If you are looking for a great start into figure skating or hockey, start with the basics! The Learn to Skate Basic program offers professional instruction at many comprehensive levels using the United States Figure Skating guidelines and standards. If your child is new to skating, Basic Level 1 is a perfect choice! With a focus on getting your skater comfortable on the ice, USFS-qualified coaches introduce participants to fundamental skills, including sitting and standing up on the ice, marching forward, and snowplow stopping on two feet.
