Junior Dragstrip Day Racers, start your engines! If your child has a need for speed, than this is the program for them. Drop by the Little White School Museum anytime between 11-1 to create your own miniature racecar and race it on a toy track! Participants walk away with their own wooden vehicle and a medal for participating. Price is per racer. An adult must accompany children. This program invites history enthusiasts to connect and discuss the book: Challenger: A True Story of Heroism and Disaster on the Edge of Space by Adam Higginbotham, a compel ling account that delves into the tragic events sur rounding the Challenger space shuttle. Preserve Your Past Step into the role of a historian! Preserve the Past in vites you to engage with the art of historical thinking, discover how history is written, and find your personal place within it. This program begins with a one-hour lecture exploring why historical research matters and the challenges historians often face. Participants will learn about key historical methods, including who has written history over time, the role of biography and autobiography, and how historical narratives have evolved. The lecture will also ask participants to reflect on where they fit into history. Examples from amateur and community historians will highlight the diversity of historical perspectives, and participants will be introduced to resources that can help them further explore the field. Those who wish can also submit their written work to be included in the museum’s archive. Following the lecture, there will be a 15-minute question-and-answer session, offering participants an opportunity to engage with experts and ask ques tions. Afterward, the program will shift into a 30- to 45-minute guided writing session. During this time, participants will craft personal historical statements, with examples and guidance provided. Join us for an engaging afternoon of discovery and creativity as we preserve the past and write new stories for the future! Open Mic Night at the Little White School Museum Unleash your creativity and share your talent at our Open Mic Night! This welcoming event invites performers of all kinds—musicians, poets, comedians, and more—to take the stage and showcase their skills. Each performer will have 10 minutes on the mic, and we encourage participants to sign up in advance to secure their spot and prioritize stage time. However, walk-ins are also welcome and may have the oppor tunity to perform if time allows. Whether you’re an experienced performer or trying it for the first time, Open Mic Night is the perfect space to connect with fellow artists and entertain an enthusiastic audience. Non-performing spectators are welcome and do not need to register.
